Meet Katy Dika
Katy is a surface designer and educator specializing in creating repeating patterns for the apparel, home and other consumer product industries. Katy attended the Rhode Island School of Design’s Apparel Department and was awarded the Thomas J. Watson Fellowship upon graduation. In addition to fashion, Katy also had a strong interest in nature, and during her fellowship year traveled extensively throughout Australia and New Zealand collecting insects and working with entomologists on various research, taxonomy and cataloging projects. Today, she teaches beginner and advanced courses in surface design at the Rhode Island School of Design and is the former curator of the RISD Nature Lab, a Natural History collection created especially for the designers and artists who attend the Rhode Island School of Design.
